Over 8,500 authors from across the globe have signed an open letter addressed to the CEOs of OpenAI, Alphabet, Meta, Stability AI, and IBM, urging them to obtain permission and compensate them for the use of copyrighted materials in their artificial intelligence platforms. The letter warns that AI-generated content threatens to flood the market with mediocre work, based on copyrighted stories and ideas, without fair compensation.
